NÔZE SAID IT: YOU HAVE TO DANCE ALL NIGHT!

Arriving to Piknic this past Sunday was like arriving at an oasis in the middle of a desert. It was a long walk over to the Piknic site through a wall of heavy metal, and so what a relief it was to finally arrive to the rhythmic undercurrents of Claire! The afternoon locked into step with a live set by dDamage, which proved to be an excellent way to exfoliate our soundsystem and give Heavy MTL a run for its money.
As a result, I was waiting impatiently for the onslught of Nôze at 5pm. The Piknic team knew what to expect, having already lived through the French duo’s shenanigans twice before (in June 2008 as part of MUTEK, and in January 2007 as part of Igloofest). A Nôze set is all about alcohol, craziness, breaking stuff, and nudity. Taken together, it’s all more than enough to get us in the mood for their version of French electro-blues and lighthearted piss-take on life. “You have to dance, you have to dance, you have to dance all night, la la laaaaaa!” I still have that refrain stuck in my head.
And to add to the beauty of it all, piknicers were privy to a LIVE (!!) proposal. A Piknic first, and made sure to capture it on video:
Zombie Disco Squad was a perfect soundtrack to my Piknic, with the pretty Christmas lights to commemorate our Camper’s Christmas. Finally, like Mariri said, “ If you like ZDS, you’re gonna love Round Table Knights.” Listen here
Looking forward to Osheaga next weekend!
