Take off your clothes @ PikniCubik

Piknicers, it's time to clean out your closet, because you’re cordially invited to Take Off Your Clothes @ PikniCubik! The S.W.A.P. Team is a nonprofit social enterprise whose mission is to fight clothing overconsumption by redistributing clothing into the community. This group of volunteers envisioned the massive flea market-style gathering behind “Take Off Your Clothes”, the biggest clothing-exchange event of its kind in North America. So as part of PikniCubik, it’s your turn, piknicers, to take off your clothes for a good cause.

What could be better? Admission to Take Off Your Clothes is included in your PikniCubik ticket!

How does it work?
We’ll take care of collecting your stuff. On Saturday, September 3rd, from 4pm to 8pm, come to the Piknic with a bag of old treasures you no longer care to wear. The S.W.A.P. team will be on hand to look over your clothes. Whatever they accept earns you one exchange coupon, good for any other item at the swap. The rejected items will be donated to Renaissance. They highly prefer clean, good quality clothing that hasn't be damaged, so be picky about what you bring. Inspired by the Piknic theme, we suggest sunglasses in good condition, original t-shirts, jeans, shoes, casual pants, belts, hats, scarves, light jackets, tailored suits, skirts, dresses, and of course tuxedos and evening gowns!

After you've dropped off your clothes, the treasure hunt begins! On September 4th and 5th, the S.W.A.P. Team invites you into its ever-expanding closet for a swapping experience you'll never forget! One exchange coupon and a transaction charge of $1 or $2 gets you an article of clothing of your choice. Note that the monetary value of each piece is not being taken into account. One item = one exchange coupon; one exchange coupon = one article. At the cash, all you pay is the $1 or $2 with each of your coupons. Be ready to scour for some deals. Who knows, you may even stumble across one of your favourite DJ’s wearing your old clothes on stage!

For more information, visit The S.W.A.P. Team website.

In the same spirit as the clothing exchange, Piknic is taking the initiative a little further to collect and redistribute your old vinyl and CD’s. The collection takes place, once again, on September 3rd. The exchange is once again based on the number of pieces you donate to the collection, and you’ll get coupons that will let you renew your music collection accordingly. It’s free, it encourages recycling, and you might walk away with some musical gold!
