Swing and Skip Records is a bass music label based out of Montreal, Canada releasing exclusively on 12” vinyl. Founded by local producer and DJ HGLDT in the summer of 2010, Swing & Skip Records seeks to release deep and forward thinking bass music equally inspired by early dubstep sounds and UK garage grooves. The debut release from Hissy Fit (including a remix from British producer Submerse) was covered by the likes of XLR8R Magazine while SKIP002 will be released in the summer of 2011 featuring a track from British producer Damu, named by Fact Magazine as one of the “10 producers to watch in 2011”.

Upon discovering early Hyperdub and DMZ releases in 2007, DJ Backlash fell in love with bass music and has not looked back since. Since then, his selection has gravitated towards forward thinking Garage, House and Drum n' Bass, and has led him to keep residencies at Blizzarts, Korova and Green Room alongside HGLDT.

“Working with sound is like sculpting stone: you’ve got to destroy it a little to get anywhere,” jokes bass music DJ/producer Matthew Hiscock, also known as Hissy Fit. With tracks released on Car Crash Set, Phuturelabs and the new Swing & Skip Records, he’s gotten play on the UK’s RinseFM and KissFM, and received multiple mentions in XLR8R magazine. When not making or spinning tunes, he runs the Make Some Bass blog, which has featured Bok Bok, Ghislain Poirier, Submerse and Resketch, Dubbel Dutch and more. In his remaining spare minute, he writes for Music Think Tank and coordinates the Big Things! music collective.

Praised by the likes of NME, Resident Advisor and more, Henry Goury-Laffont aka HGLDT is a bass-music DJ, producer and record -label owner based in Montreal. As the founder and resident DJ of the Swing & Skip monthly at Blizzarts in Montreal, HGLDT has been pushing a new wave of forward thinking bass music to the Montreal scene, appearing alongside the likes of Pangaea, Hot City, Luke.Envoy and more. As a producer, HGLDT has received support from prominent DJ's Dusk and Blackdown on Rinse FM and has forthcoming releases on Party Guy Records and Freshmore Records, including a remix from Blunted Robots’ Martin Kemp.
